SA submits report on UN Convention on the Rights of the Child

Although an array of challenges remain, South Africa is making important progress in uplifting the lives of children who were denied their fundamental rights on the grounds of class, race and gender. The country's state report to the United Nations – edited and developed for publication by Advocacy Aid – describes the measures that have been adopted in terms of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

In addition to undertaking systemic law reform to create an enabling legal environment for advancing children's rights, South Africa has implemented a battery of pro-poor policies, budgets and programmes for strengthening social assistance, health care, education and child protection.
